The West Side Market: A Perfect Saturday Afternoon

This past week’s temperatures have made it difficult to discern whether we’re in Cleveland or the Arctic Circle, so I felt obligated to take advantage of the beautiful sunshine on Saturday afternoon.  One of my favorite things to do on the weekend, especially in nice weather, is make a trip to the West Side Market; my other favorite activity regardless of the weather, is to make a killer meal!  Since I got a new Crock Pot for Christmas, I decided to try a recipe for slow-cooker Philly steak sandwiches and baked garlic rosemary french fries, and get most of the ingredients at the West Side Market.

No matter how many times I've visited the building, I still stop and look up at the clock tower soaring into the sky; it makes me excited that a building so important to Cleveland's history is still thriving over a century later.  While the exterior is serene, the inside of the market is another story: the building is so crowded that you absolutely cannot stop moving unless you're ordering at a counter.  I love it!

After resisting the tantalizing displays of cookies, cakes, and bread, and pushing through the crowds to get the steak, cheese, rolls, and veggies, I was ready to start to my cooking!  The Slow-Cooker Philly Steak recipe is not only simple, but delicious, and I swear  homemade french fries and an NFL playoff game make the perfect meal pairing.  We had a great dinner and a great night!  Food Network stardom here I come!
