About Me

Stephanie Schill

I'm an aspiring architect, avid happy hour enthusiast, crazy workoutaholic and future Food Network star. I'm proud to live in Cleveland, Ohio, and have loved every inch of this city my whole life.  I grew up in Westlake, a West side suburb of Cleveland, and then went on to Miami University for my Bachelor of Architecture.  I have to admit with first hand experience, Cleveland > Cincinnati.  Needless to say, I moved back as soon as I graduated.  I've been living in the city ever since, pursuing my now-complete Master of Architecture at the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative and working jointly at Schill Architecture and The House of L, 2 amazing custom residential firms.  Living in the heart of it all has deepened my love and appreciation of Cleveland - the people, the sports, the events...and most importantly, the food!

The only thing I like more than the Cleveland restaurant scene is cooking in my own kitchen, preferably for my friends, family and boyfriend, Howie.  I met Howie studying architecture in Florence, Italy almost 5 years ago (no, he's not Italian), and we've been together ever since.  He's the guinea pig for most of my creations, but I don't think he minds too much!

The Other Home

Though I've been baking since I could hold a spoon, Italy is actually where my true passion for cooking was born.  Almost every day, I would go to different bakeries for cookies, or espresso, or bread (or all three oops!) and ask the women behind the counter what made each item special.  They actually gave me a lot of tips!  It was in Florence that I learned that good bread is actually sprinkled with salt, the key to great tomato sauce is a big spoonful of sugar, and everything is better with a little bit of parmesan cheese.  I combined this new appreciation of simple, fresh ingredients with some of my old family recipes, and the food couldn't be better!  I can't wait for you to try some of my creations in your own kitchen!
