Welcome to New York

As many of you know, I absolutely love travel in any shape or form.  I'm not sure if it's a last ditch effort to see as much of the world as I can before I eventually have to get responsible and settle down one day, or if I have an innate travel bug that will probably never disappear completely.  Either way, seeing the world  makes me feel creatively, physically and emotionally inspired, so I take advantage of as many trips each year as I can, big or small.

For these reasons, I decided to launch a travel section for No Place Like (O)Home.  Even though I absolutely adore my hometown of Cleveland, OH, there is a whole world out there for me to explore, and in turn, share with you.  To be honest, I have no idea what type of content I'll be regularly posting in this section - it's sort of like this past spring when I found a $400 round trip ticket to Panama and bought it on a whim without a game plan.  I have a tendency to dive into things head first and never look back.  But that itinerary is looking amazing, so I'm crossing fingers that this travel section will be equally successful.  Looks like a glimpse into my trip to Manhattan through photos will be the first topic...

A respite from the bustle at The High Line.

All smiles here.

Sweet breaks (less than a half hour after we finished lunch...c'est la vie!)

Happy hour with a view at our wonderful Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Midtown Manhattan.

We went to an unforgettable U2 concert at Madison Square Garden complete with a visit from the Clinton family and a surprise Bruce Springsteen appearance for "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Stand By Me."

...oh yeah and Bono was standing less than 15' away while he sang my favorite song, "City of Blinding Lights."  Major life moment right here.

The next morning we set out for a busy day in the city, including a long stroll down 5th Ave.

A little pit stop in Central Park.  Imagine.

We walked around even further before indulging in the wildly popular Shake Shack at Madison Park.

In the late afternoon, we went back to the hotel to get dolled up for our big night on the town for my parent's anniversary.  The dinner and wine list at The Sea Fire Grill were absolutely incredible.  It was such a special night!

Later in the evening, we headed over to The Campbell Apartment, which is, in my opinion, the most romantic and classy bar in the city.  In addition to the fantastic eye candy (hello gorgeous architecture!), the pre-prohibition experience is brought to life with live jazz music and a great selection of signature cocktails.  My evening pictures did not turn out on the iPhone 5s I had with me, but I took this picture in the early evening the last time I was in NYC.  I thought the music and crowd were better at night, but nothing beats fresh daylight pouring through tempered glass in a historic bar!

I had a wonderful time in Manhattan, as always.  I'm looking forward to many more trips in the future now that my younger brother landed a full-time finance job after he graduates this coming year.  Any suggestions on great places to go that I may have missed?
