Rocky River Brewing Co.

My favorite thing in the whole wide world might be Friday Happy Hour.  There's just something about the feeling of freedom from the work week and excitement for the weekend's festivities that pair perfectly with a good beer and equally delicious food.  Howie and I have our old standbys, Deegan's Kitchen and Bar ($3 drafts til 7!) and 16-Bit Bar+Arcade ($1 off beers and we can channel our inner hipsters), but we also love trying new restaurants and bars.  Like Rocky River Brewing Company. I've been to RR Brewing Co. a few times since late fall and it's never disappointed!  It's kind of like a miniature version of Ohio City - super great food for reasonable prices with craft beer brewed in-house - but without all of the chaos typical to West 25th St.  Not saying that you won't have to wait for a table if you come after 6, but it won't be a 2 hour wait like everybody's probably had to suffer once or twice in order to eat at Great Lakes Brewing Co. or Market Garden.

The brews rotate regularly, but I started with their IPA and Howie had a Belgian Strong Ale.  Both were really good.  They have a quite a few lighter beers as well, including a blueberry ale, if you're not a huge fan of beer or prefer milder flavoring.  Even though it's spring, I must say my favorite beer that I've ever ordered from RR Brewing Co. is their Christmas Ale...but we have about 8 months to go before we see that on the menu again!

The food at RR Brewing Co. is just as good as the beer!  Since it was a Friday during Lent, Howie and I both went meatless.  I had the Fish and Chips Special, which was a crispy beer-battered cod (made with their own house-brewed beer!) served with homemade sweet potato fries and coleslaw.  SO GOOD.  Howie went a little ethnic, ordering the Thai Me On without meat.  He's gotten this before with chicken and it's absolutely divine.  What's not to love when a dish involves asian noodles and a spicy peanut sauce??  Broccoli would be Howie's answer...but I ate some of them for him!  You definitely have to plan a trip to the Rocky River Brewing Co. in the near future for great beer, great food and great times with friends!  And P.S. I'm totally eyeing out their patio for the first nice night this spring, it looks like it would be a blast!
