New Year, New Smoothie: Triple Berry Green Smoothie

Happy New Year!  I thought I would start 2015 off right with a healthier recipe, since almost everyone's New Year's resolution involves eating better, losing weight, exercising more, or a combination of all three.  Back in August, I started making a smoothie for breakfast everyday because they were the most convenient meal to take with me on my 45 minute drive.  Little did I know, they would actually make me lose about 6 pounds without even trying!  It's definitely the best way to improve your energy, increase your protein and nutrient intake, gain lean muscle...and it tastes great!  I make all different types of smoothies depending on the fruit I have at the time, but this Triple Berry Green Smoothie has definitely become my favorite combination lately!

I added about 2 cups of spinach, a chopped frozen banana, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries to the new Nutri-Bullet I got for Christmas this year!  I topped this with honey, ground chia seeds, vanilla protein powder, a couple tablespoons of dried oats and a dash of cinnamon.  It's just the right flavor combination, not too sweet, but I love how the cinnamon masks the whey protein taste that can sometimes overpower the fresh fruit.  I add in about 1/2-1 cup of ice, depending on how thick you like your smoothie, and then top with 3/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk.  I pulse until the mixture is smooth, and you have a healthy breakfast on the go!

  1. I have only been drinking this stuff for a month and already I've felt great results. Though Green drink doesn't taste great by any means, but the effects are really great. But, when mixed with the right stuff (like apple juice) I actually enjoy it.

    1. I definitely think it can be tasty as long as you add something tart like apples, pineapple, blueberries or raspberries! Try a little dash of cinnamon in your green drink...promise it adds an awesome flavor!
